The Green Technology Transfer Fund (GTTF)
Green Transition of Agriculture and Food Value Chains in Uganda
Danish and EU-based climate-friendly technologies within the food sector will now gain better access to new business opportunities in Uganda. The Ugandan development organization aBi Development Ltd has entered a collaboration with the Danish NGO Access2innovation to build a platform that will analyze value chains in Ugandan agriculture and identify relevant Danish and EU-based climate-friendly and commercially sustainable technologies.
The project has received nearly DKK 19 million – UGX 10.34 billion or Euro 2,54 million – to accelerate climate-friendly solutions in Uganda’s food sector using Danish and Eu technology. The objective is to enable Danish and EU-based companies to test and scale solutions within processing, water, energy and circular economy in collaboration with local partners.
The project runs for 24 months and combines technology transfer and capacity building with the mobilisation of additional co-financing to scale up the initiative.
A Unique Opportunity for EU-based Companies and Sustainable Development
“With this grant, we can build a bridge between Danish and EU-based green solutions and concrete needs in Uganda. It opens new business opportunities for European companies, giving them a unique chance to introduce relevant technologies and solutions to the growing markets in East Africa, while contributing to more sustainable development in the region,” says Henrik Anker-Ladefoged, CEO of Access2innovation.
The Market of Uganda is Growing
Uganda’s market for green solutions within the food sector is growing rapidly. The development is driven by population growth, increasing demand for sustainable food production and rising investments in climate adaptation. This positions the country as a growing market and a hub for scalable green technologies in East Africa.
Advising Danish Companies in East Africa
Access2innovation has many years of experience introducing Danish technologies and companies to the African market. The organization has a regional office with four employees in Uganda as well as representation in Tanzania and Rwanda. This makes the organization a natural choice for Danish companies seeking entry into the East African market.
