Our DMDP GRAIN project has reached an important milestone as Gl. Buurholt has successfully sold a seed cleaner to Okeba Uganda Limited. Okeba Uganda Limited is a Ugandan agribusiness company focused on buying, aggregating, storing, processing, and marketing agricultural produce from smallholder farmers.

“Is is great that our demo plant has been sold, so it can really get up and running now. The plant has been rented out to Søren Næsborg at his farm in Uganda, but now it’s moving on to Okeba,” tells CEO of Gl. Buurholt, Visti Møller. He continues:

“Okeba is a seed company, so unfortunately, it’s not a ‘village’ that has bought the plant. But now it will benefit MANY farmers in Uganda.”

The sale marks a positive step in strengthening local agricultural processing capacity in Uganda and demonstrates growing interest in modern grain-handling solutions. In addition to the completed sale, around eight further potential sales have been initiated, with ongoing follow-up activities involving partner banks to support financing and implementation.

The project partners are optimistic that additional agreements will follow in the near future.
