A2i Talk: Commercial Lending for Development of the Agriculture Sector in East Africa: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities

In this A2i-talk, Dr. Andrew Temu will present insights to the trends of finance for the agriculture sector in East Africa in general and a deep-dive into Tanzania. Dr. Andrew has been chairman and member of the board of directors of several finance institutions. Based on these experiences, he will shed light on the challenges posed by monetary policies and banks operations in the region as faced by many local enterprises/producers, who are unable to secure capital for investments in their agri-business. These challenges may also impact negatively on the opportunity for Danish companies to export and invest in production enhancing inputs on the African markets.

Despite these challenges, Dr. Andrew will highlight the ongoing policy reforms and alternative and non-traditional commercial lending opportunities that do exist for small and medium size agribusinesses including typical lending conditions and requirements.
