A warm welcome to William J Nyakatura, our new Program Manager, Green Technology Transfer Fund (GTTF) aBi Development, GRASP Project.

William is a seasoned executive with an extensive track record in development finance and Regional Capital Markets, specializing in driving transformative change through strategic investment and system building. With a career spanning over 19 years, William has consistently demonstrated expertise in fostering strategic relationships with local and foreign investors, building robust market linkages, and leading high-impact initiatives that achieve sustainable growth and impactful outcomes in the agriculture, healthcare and productive use of energy sectors.

 -I recently had the privilege of working with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) in deepening the market with a special emphasis on aligning Green, Social, and Sustainability bonds and issuance of Depository Receipts, both on the Uganda Securities Exchange and working previously with medium businesses at Goldstone Consulting, providing BDS and transaction advisory services to support private equity transactions, William tells. 

In 2025, he served as the Chief of Party and Director of the Investment Facilitation Program for USAID Feed the Future Strategic Investment Activity (SIA) implemented by Chemonics International. The activity spearheaded programs that cultivated strong relationships with local and foreign investors, local businesses seeking to scale and ripe for partnerships, resulting in the deployment of over USD 170m raised over a period of 4 years. His leadership extended to managing dynamic teams, negotiating with ecosystem actors ensuring common goals are achieved.

Before his roles at Chemonics, William founded and managed Kinsman Advisory Limited, where he provided financial analysis and practical trading classes, helping clients achieve an average 30% increase in portfolio returns. He also developed alternative financing pipelines, securing $10 million for SMEs and corporate companies, and fostered relationships with prominent PE firms and DFIs, attracting another $10 million in investments to Uganda’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Earlier in his career, as Head of Corporate Advisory and Research Analyst at African Alliance Uganda Limited, William successfully orchestrated deal pipelines, facilitated private placements, and played a key role in acquisitions, raising $30 million in investment capital and facilitating $40 million in successful transactions. He also managed client equity portfolios on the Uganda and Rwandan Stock Exchanges, consistently driving growth and maximizing returns.

William’s expertise lies in investment facilitation, policy advocacy, strategic relationship building, and team leadership, making him a formidable force in driving capital market development and fostering impactful investment partnerships.
