Follow-up workshop on emergency sanitation

on .

On June 26th, access2innovation had the pleasure of hosting the follow-up workshop on water and sanitation challenges in emergency response camps.

The workshop was hosted along with the Danish Red Cross and featured William Carter from the International Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.

A number of specific challenges and demands to the sanitary solutions were presented; latrines need to be simple and rapid to assemble, lightweight, made of non-metallic material and self-supporting.

Apart from these specific demands, cultural needs vary as to where in the world the toilets are used as well as geographical challenges if you are unable to dig a hole in the ground.

After the presentation and workshop, the ten participating Danish companies presented their ideas and exchanged contact info.

Companies who wish to enrol in the access2innovation partnership must apply before August 6th in order to be taken into consideration for the feasibility study and pilot project funding that the network can provide.
