In Kasese, the One Stop Shop facility in the market square has been expanded with a Red Cross health clinic.
The One Stop Shop was originally designed as a commercially viable hygienic toilet and showering facility and toiletry shop, but now the partnership with Red Cross has resulted in another vital add-on.
A Red Cross health care clinic has been established alongside the One Stop Shop facility; treating primarily mothers and children through immunisation and other basic medical services.
As well as treating a large number of women and children, the health clinic has relieved the pressure on the other health care clinics in the area, allowing the health care workers more time for their clients in other places as well.
Last week, the king of Rwenzururu, HRH Charles Mumbere, visited the One Stop Shop and the health clinic where he emphasised on the issues of good sanitation and urged the local community to use the premises fully and effectively.
