DANIDA funding approved for One Stop Shop

on .

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved financial support of 1 million DKR for the One Stop Shop-project in Uganda.

The One Stop Shop is a sanitary solution aimed at highly populated areas, market places, slum dwellers etc., providing them with hygienic toilet and shower facilities in a clean, safe and sustainable environment for a small fee.

At the same time, waste and grey matter from the facility will be collected and re-used as bio-energy; creating a sustainable energy source as well as solving a bio-hazard.

The project is run in collaboration with Red Cross, access2innovation and the Danish company EnviClean who has been doing preliminary research in Kampala and Kasese. Together with Ugandan partners Watertech and associated partners, AVV, Bigadan and DMS-Africa, a version of a One Stop Shop will be tested in Uganda in the spring of 2014.
