Participants from a variety of organisations, institutions and private companies were presented with a series of challenges and demands specified by the RC.

Challenge and demands highlights:
There are more than 43 million refugees worldwide. At least 80 per cent of them are staying in developing countries.
There is a massive demand for new water and sanitation solutions in emergency and refugee camps.
There is a variety of different challenges connected to water and sanitation in relief work – related to cultural, environmental and technical restrictions as well as waste management.

After the presentations, the participants split up in smaller groups to discuss and develop their ideas.

A follow-up workshop will be held on June 26th featuring William Carter of the International Red Cross. The aim of the workshop will be on developing innovative water and sanitation solutions to meet the demands worldwide.
